China-Thailand Advanced Bio-manufacturing Technology Development and Efficient Biomass Conversion Collaborative Innovation Project Launched at Guangxi University

On May 13, the launch meeting for the Guangxi Empowerment Action Plan (Guangxi Key Research and Development Program) China-Thailand Advanced Bio-manufacturing Technology Development and Efficient Biomass Conversion Collaborative Innovation Project (hereinafter referred to as "the Project"), led by Guangxi university, was held on the campus. Xiao Jianzhuang, President of the university, attended the launch meeting and delivered a speech.

Xiao Jianzhuang welcomed the project team members from the collaborating institutionsShanghai Jiao Tong University and Chulalongkorn University in Thailandand expressed congratulations on the project's successful launch. He noted that China and Thailand are rich in agricultural and forestry biomass resources and urgently need collaborative breakthroughs in efficient conversion technologies. Guangxi University will provide full support and services for the project's research and the establishment of the China-Thailand Joint Laboratory. He expressed the hope that the three universities would take the project's launch as an opportunity to build a long-term cooperation mechanism characterized by joint project research, joint platform construction, shared achievements, and joint talent cultivation, working together to create a hub for scientific and technological innovation in the field of China-ASEAN bio-manufacturing.

Professor Feng Jiaxun, the project leader from Guangxi university, presented an overview of the project. Professor Zhao Shuai from the School of Life Science and Technology at GXU, Professor Zhao Xinqing from the School of Life Sciences and Biotechnology at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and Professor Nuttha Thongchul from the Institute of Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering at Chulalongkorn University reported on their respective teams' research tasks and objectives. They also discussed the project's progress and the plan and agreement for establishing the "Belt and Road" Joint Laboratory.

Following the meeting, the 1st China-Thailand Symposium on Intelligent Bio-manufacturing and Efficient Biomass Conversion, along with the specialized training session on Advanced Bio-manufacturing Technology Development and Efficient Biomass Conversion, was held. Experts, young scientists, and graduate students from China and Thailand delivered 27 presentations and lectures, engaging in in-depth academic exchange and technical training.

Prior to the meeting, Xiao Jianzhuang met with the Thai delegation and presented three Thai experts with letters of appointment as Visiting Professors of Guangxi University.
